Cleaning

Pool Filter Cleaning

Your filter catches everything the skimmer misses, from oak pollen to sunscreen oils. In humid Houston summers and dusty DFW springs it clogs faster than most owners expect. We break the filter down, clean it properly, inspect the internals and reassemble it so water flows freely and your pump stops straining.

Problems we solve

High filter pressure

A gauge creeping above normal means restricted flow and a pump working too hard.

Cloudy water that will not clear

A loaded filter cannot trap fine particles, no matter how much chlorine you add.

Pollen and oil buildup

Spring pollen and summer sunscreen coat cartridges and blind the media.

Short cycling and noise

Poor flow can make heaters cut out and pumps run loud.

Torn or worn media

We spot cracked grids and frayed cartridges before they let dirt back into the pool.

What is included

  • Filter tank opened and media removed
  • Cartridge or grid deep clean with degreaser as needed
  • DE recharge for DE filters
  • Tank O-ring inspected and lubricated
  • Pressure reading before and after
  • Replacement recommendation if media is worn

How it works

  1. 1

    Pressure check

We record the starting pressure to measure the improvement.

  2. 2

    Teardown

We safely release pressure, open the tank and pull the media.

  3. 3

    Clean and inspect

Media is cleaned thoroughly and checked for tears or cracks.

  4. 4

    Reassemble and test

Everything goes back together and we confirm clean running pressure.

What affects the price

Every pool is different, so we quote after a quick look. These are the main things that move the number.

Filter type
DE grids take longer than cartridges, and sand needs a different approach.
Filter size
Larger multi cartridge filters take more time to clean.
Condition of media
Heavily oiled or calcified cartridges may need a soak or replacement.
Bundled with weekly service
Route customers often get scheduled filter cleans at a better rate.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a pool filter be cleaned?

Most Texas pools need a full filter clean every three to four months, and more often during heavy pollen or after storms.

How do I know my filter needs cleaning?

Watch the pressure gauge. When it reads about 8 to 10 PSI above its clean baseline, it is time.

Can I just hose off my cartridge?

Hosing helps between cleans, but oils and fine debris need a proper degreasing to fully restore flow.

When should cartridges be replaced?

Typically every two to three years, or sooner if the pleats are torn, flattened or crusted with scale.

Does a clean filter save energy?

Yes. Better flow lets your pump move water with less effort, which can lower run time and power use.
